The effects of COVID-19 pandemic on my academics performance.
COVID-19, known popularly as the corona virus 🦠 which circulated the whole world and gave a taste of death to every country and region around the globe, didn't stop at just that but also, had a grievous negative impact on the economical growth, the international relationship between countries/states,various institutions and also, the educational system of many learning institutions and colleges around the world.
The educational system in Nigeria is among the sectors with devastating impact of COVID19 pandemic. Before the pandemic, the Nigerian education system was purely based on a face-to-face approach to teaching and learning in both primary, secondary schools and universities. With the emergence of the almost never ending lockdown condition and school closure, following the COVID-19 pandemic, both teachers and learners were helpless about how to continue learning in the face of the pandemic, a new method of teaching emerged in some schools, who had the means and time to continue by the use of the internet and networking of the zoom and Skype video apps, which was considered as online classes. A type of learning and teaching platform, which enabled teachers and students see their faces, interact and receive lectures without having to be in the same place. But this still had no positive impact on most students, as it was time consuming and money consuming to some people, and research done showed it failed. I would love to use my self as an example to narrate the effects of the pandemic on my academics.
On a normal, i consider my self a bright student ever since the beginning of my educational background and i consider myself to be doing well academically, although prior to the COVID-19 pandemic, i was a little bit lacking behind on my exam results and had made up my mind to be better on my next exam, and then came the virus 🦠 and ever since the emergence of the pandemic and closure of schools, i have found my self loosing interest in books.Unlike before were i loved reading ahead of time and broadly to enhance my self, i know find myself indulging in activities which would help me waste time ,keep me lively at all cost and reading of books were not among those activities. I watched movies all day, playing of games with my brothers was part of the day, and the social network community was also my type of entertainment.
After the long forced break, then school resumed. My brain empty i could feel it, learning was already out of my system, i only went to classes to be present and when ever i try to focus i found it hard to, my zeal and agenda in repairing and boosting my grades were down the drain, all i could think of was not to get a carryover at any of my courses. Then came exams and then results were out, i went lower than my previous grades but without carryovers, then it struck me that evidently the long pandemic break had really negatively affected my academics, and im still on the verge of regaining my steadfastness on becoming a better version of me in my academics and education as a whole.
In conclusion, i must say the COVID-19 pandemic had really caused great harm than good towards my academics and its negative effects has shown on my results and me personally.
